Hack4Impact exists for both nonprofits and students. We connect student software developers with nonprofits and other socially responsible businesses to develop powerful new tools for social change. This enables nonprofits to further their mission and better engage their clients. We are committed to increasing awareness of technology's potential for good.
We are eager to learn about technology, ourselves, and the world around us. We dive deep into our fields of study and work, and seek feedback from our teammates, students, and teachers.
We are also incredibly curious about our clients. We know we might not know everything, so we must ask the right questions to deliver the best solutions to our nonprofits, even if they're non-technical!
Testing drives every decision we make on behalf of our clients. Our empathetic approach provides a North Star to our development process. We’re able to settle difficult debates by agreeing and executing on what’s best for our client.
In the end, we make intentional, well-informed decisions by understanding the environments we are surrounded by and deeply listening to our teammates.
We evaluate the trade offs of our decisions, choose a direction to head, and crush our goals. Whether it be personal or professional growth, we avoid mindless movement and instead purposefully act.
Above all, we work with intention. We assess the concerns of our users, stakeholders, and clients, to develop a custom solution that fits our precise constraints.
Hack4Impact is the perfect intersection between service and professional experience. I get to work on fascinating projects that have a real impact on my community, all while learning industry standard tools and techniques in software development projects. Hack4Impact has opened up many doors for me, both in my personal and professional lives, and it has absolutely transformed my experience at UT. I am so glad that I am able to be a part of this organization.
My journey with Hack4Impact has been truly transformative. While joining allowed me to gain experience working on real-world software projects using tools I wouldn't have otherwise learned, what truly stands out is the opportunity I have to affect change in the Knoxville community. Alongside this, the connections I've formed with like-minded peers who are passionate about making a difference are priceless. It's an unparalleled experience that I'm incredibly grateful to have.
